The Thomas Wolfe Memorial celebrates the famous southern literary icon of the same name. It is the home that Wolfe grew up in, and wrote about in his novel, "Look Homeward, Angel". The memorial features trails, guided tours, monuments, and a visitor's center.

Vance Monument is a tribute to Zebulon B. Vance, a North Carolina Civil War governor, and a local. It is a well-known piece of artwork in downtown. It is located in Pack Square, in the center of town.
